A New Year’s Wish for a Year Filled with Moments to Relish

BullToday our herd bull is standing in sunlit snow, energetically rooting around in his little pile of hay and looking for the choicest morsels of grass, with maybe even a sprig of alfalfa. After a period of smelling and tossing, he simply stands chewing, relishing the flavor, and gazing out at the far pasture, with heaven knows what going through his brain. Sometimes, he adds to the smiles for the day with his filmy and flimsy grassy hat that, having been tossed, has landed on his head. At other times, he takes a break for a nap and simply lies down on his pile of hay, sending a clear warning to the magpie rabble and the congress of cottontails.

It’s very hard not to humanize his actions. Although trails of analysis and similarities abound, the one that seems clearest now with the holidays past and the look to the new year is the reminder to revel in the beauties and possibilities of the moment.

And it seems that embarking on another year is a great time to look forward to finding the moments each day in the new year to relish. May your year abound in such moments!
